William Rex McLaurin, Jr., 60, of Petersburg, passed away on January 5, 2014 in Lubbock. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 P.M. Friday, January 10, 2014 at Kornerstone Funeral Chapel. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Rex was born on August 5, 1953 to W.R. “Pat” & Mary McLaurin in Plainview. He attended Plainview public schools, Lipperts Court Reporting School and Southern Nazarene University. He married Becky McLaurin on April 26, 1983 in Plainview, TX. He worked for Walter Larson installing amusement rides. During that time he was able to travel the world. He later worked for Scott Wylie at Wylie Manufacturing. He resided in Petersburg where he obtained his EMS certification and served the Petersburg area as a volunteer. Rex attended Church of the Nazarene and was a Christian. He is survived by his wife, Becky McLaurin of Petersburg, TX; one son, Patrick McLaurin of Petersburg, TX; stepson, Shane Farmer of Wisconsin; his mother, Mary McLaurin of Plainview; two siblings, George Jones of Plainview, TX and Barbara Jones Snowbarger of Bethany, OK; four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
