William "W.A." Bird (Plainview)

W.A. Bird, 91, of Plainview, Texas passed away on January 13, 2023 at his home. A memorial visitaion will be held on Monday, January 16, 2023 from 2-4 PM at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel in Plainview. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Plainview. W.A. Bird was a beloved husband, father, Papa and friend. You might recognize him as the man walking around Walmart with the McDonalds coffee cup always waving and sharing a kind word. Driven by purest faith in Jesus, W.A. was a long time and active member of the First Baptist Church of Plainview. His faith wasn't confined to a pew as he "donated" multiple bibles to the grocery carts of Walmart. As a talented wood-worker, W.A. built many heirlooms including a life-sized Victorian style playhouse that has been loved and played in by 2 generations of children. He is survived by his wife, Fran. The two were married for 62 loving years; His two sons, Tommy and his wife, Martha, and David and his wife, Stacey. In addition, his two granddaughters, Erica and her husband, Ron with her two boys; Sarah and her husband, Joe, with their daughter. He was cherished by his neighbors and former students of PISD, and since he was cared for by so many, his family would love to thank the hospice workers of Traditions Health and all of his friends of Plainview for their support and kindness.
