Barty Grant (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas—Barty Christine (Smith) Grant, 76, died on Monday, November 30, 2020.

Cremation arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.

Barty was born on November 28, 1944 to Abner Joe and Mary Pauline Smith in Clovis, NM. She grew up in Plainview and graduated from Plainview High School. She was a member of the Plainview Band and Acapella Choir receiving scholarships to Rice University. She married Jerrel Grant in 1961. They moved to Houston and lived there for 25 years. Not only was she a housewife but she worked as the office manager at her husband’s glass business. They moved around the state and have lived in the Arlington area for the past 20 years where she was also a school bus driver. She loved music, her family, her grandkids, her nieces and nephews and her dogs. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

She is survived by her two sons: Cody Grant of Tulia and Cory Grant and wife Sharon of San Leon, TX, two grandkids: Joseph Grant and Jessica Grant both of Hempstead, NC and two brothers: Jimmy Joe Smith of Tulia and Gary Don Smith of Borger and her nieces and nephews.
