To our mom,

You are the most precious person to our family, the sun, the moon, the stars, and everything in between. We never knew that it would be the last time we would speak, get a hug, a kiss, go to lunch together, and so much more, but we will forever cherish every single moment you gave us. You had such a hard road but you drove it with such grace that we never knew the wheels were falling off. Even though you were our mom, you still surprise us after you’ve left us, which is just like you. You touched so many people that we never knew, made so many memories when we weren’t there, and I hope that every one that you impacted will remember them and keep you with them. You were so kind, giving, and thoughtful, but very hard headed. The proof is in that 2015 TiVo you refused to update because you didn’t want to lose all the shows you had recorded on there. Any disagreement any of us have had, we always found our way back to each other because you made sure we knew family is what matters most. As for us and dad, you made us feel seen and wholeheartedly loved. You made each and every one of us kids of yours feel special, you never wanted anyone to feel less important than another, called every single one of us to check in on us everyday. You created a space just for us to existing where we would always be accepted and heard, and never gave a second thought to putting our needs before yours and we can’t express the amount of gratitude and love we hold for you. Most things we feel we’ve taken for granted before but we know we will never again. You wouldn’t want us to be angry or lose ourselves so we are promising to you that we will make it, for you. We will all work everyday to make you proud to have lived for us. Now we have to live for you, through you, with you in our hearts, but even more we want you to know that we were the one who were blessed with you, not the other way around. We promise to make you as proud of us as we were of you for everything you’ve accomplished, for how hard you’ve fought, and how much you grew as a person. We will always wish we could’ve taken more pictures, given more hugs, and said more I love you’s, but we hope you are with your mom and Coco and seeing all the people you haven’t been able to see. We hope you’re playing the piano and doing all the other things you could no longer do. We thought we’d have you forever, but we know we love will love you forever “until kingdom come” mommy.

“I love you, God Bless you, I love you more” - Benita
