Beverly Jo Manley (Plainview)

Beverly Manley passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 30, 2026. Services will be held at 10:00am at First Baptist Church Plainview on Saturday, September 5th with Dr. Travis Hart and Matthew Broyles presiding.

Beverly Jo Armstrong was born April 27, 1949 at Hamilton Air Force Base in San Rafael, California. She was the second of Eric and Wanda Armstrong's four daughters. Her dad's Air Force career took the family all over the world, though their homes in Chaumont, France and the Philippines were definitely highlights. By the age of five, Beverly was fluent in French, much of which she retained all her life.

By the time she entered high school, the family permanently settled in Palos Verdes, California. Bev enjoyed school but found particular enjoyment in drama and dance class. After college and working several odd jobs, she moved to Redondo Beach and began her career at the post office. Don had moved to California not long before; the two met through car trouble and a mutual friend. On their third date, Don led Beverly to the Lord, a decision that changed her life forever. Three years later, the couple married, spent six months in Alaska, and moved to Texas.

Beverly grew extremely close to her in-laws and spent much of her time helping with their Clarendon fruit orchard, which Don and Bev later bought. They moved to Plainview in 1981 and gave birth to Lara a year later. They were active members of First Baptist Church, but after Bev's fourth miscarriage, she decided to fill a need for a preschool Sunday School teacher. She taught faithfully- and joyfully- for the next 25+ years. Beverly loved cooking, traveling, skiing, horseback riding and time with loved ones. She had a deep love for serving people and a sincere kindness, integrity and gentleness people took notice of. She lived out many fruits of the Spirit but Bev particularly had a servant's heart, never comfortable receiving credit or sitting idle.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Don, daughter Lara Boone (Rick), sister Kathy Pieper (Fred), sister Erin Kovnot (Matthew), step-grandsons Ian Boone and Drake Boone (Enas) and many extended family members that adored her.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Julie Ann, father Eric Armstrong, mother Wanda Armstrong, and sister Bonnie Hausler.
