In Loving Memory of Blas Gomez
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
— 2 Timothy 4:7
Blas Gomez
September 14, 1942 – June 10, 2026
With profound sadness and immense love, we announce the passing of Blas Gomez, who departed this life on June 10, 2026, at the age of 83.
Born on September 14, 1942, in Pharr, Texas, Blas lived a life filled with hard work, laughter, family, and unforgettable memories. He was a devoted husband to Consuelo "Connie" Gomez, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and partnership. Together they owned and operated Connie and Blas Variety Store, where they became well-known and respected members of their community. Later, he made his way to Post, Texas, where he continued to touch the lives of everyone around him.
Blas was a proud and loving father to his daughters, Gracie Gomez and Yolanda Lopez, and his son, Arturo Gomez. He was also a devoted grandfather who helped raise his grandchildren, Mark Rodriguez, Michael Rodriguez, and Christina Rodriguez, Jaylan Guzman as his own. He played an important role in their lives, providing love, guidance, support, and countless cherished memories that will forever be treasured by those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Connie Gomez; his daughters, Gracie Gomez and her husband, Lucas Chris Leal, and Yolanda Lopez (David Lopez) his son, Arturo Gomez( Marisela Gomez); his grandchildren, Mark Rodriguez, Michael Rodriguez, Christina Rodriguez (Saul Garcia), Jaylan Guzman(JD Medellin) and many grandchildren whom he loved dearly; as well as numerous great-grandchildren who brought tremendous joy to his life. He is also survived by his brothers, Juan Gomez and Pablo Gomez; his sister, Petra Gomez; and many extended family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Blas enjoyed attending Old Mill trade days, where he proudly sold his handcrafted woodwork and visited with friends old and new. He had a passion for westerns, movies, bike riding, cooking outdoors, listening to music, caring for plants, enjoying a cold Bud Light, and dancing. To those who knew him, there was no doubt—that man could dance. Whether music was playing at a family gathering or a special celebration, Blas never missed an opportunity to enjoy the moment. He had a way of bringing smiles to faces, laughter to gatherings, and warmth to every room he entered.
One of Blas's favorite sayings was, "Only but nobody loves me." He would often say it with a grin, knowing it would immediately be met with loving protests from his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren reminding him just how deeply he was loved. It became one of the many cherished memories that his family will carry with them forever.
Those who knew Blas knew a man of strength, humor, generosity, and unwavering devotion to his family. He leaves behind a legacy built on love, hard work, resilience, and countless memories that will continue to live on through those fortunate enough to have known him.
While words can never fully capture the impact he had on so many lives, his family finds comfort in knowing that his spirit, laughter, stories, and love will remain with them always.
He was truly one of the greatest men to have ever set foot on this earth.
Forever loved, forever remembered, and forever missed.
We love you, Dad, Grandpa, and Great-Grandpa. Always and forever.
