Carlos Vega, 68, of Plainview, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 P.M. Friday, December 19, 2025 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, December 20, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father George Poonely officiating. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview
Born October 10, 1957, in Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico, he was the son of the late Jose Vega, Sr. and Epifania (Vasquez) Vega.
Mr. Vega is survived by his wife, Melva; his children, Lori Limas (and husband Alfonzo) of Charleston, SC; Charles (and wife Crystal) of Roanoke, VA; Daniel and (wife Lexa) of San Antonio, TX; Adrianna of Charleston, SC; and James of Plainview, TX; and six grandchildren: Mila Limas, Evelyn, Ezra and Lukas Vega, Adalie and Barrett Vega. In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by six sisters, Felicita Vega of Plainview, TX; Amelia Sanchez and (husband Raul) of Plainview, TX; Teresa Machala (and husband Edward) of Dallas, TX; Isabel Vega, Maria F. Smith and Beatris Vega all of Amarillo, TX; and two brothers, Manuel and (wife Debbie) of Canyon, TX, and Alberto (and wife Shelly) of Wylie, TX.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Jose, Jr. and sister Juana Vega.
A devoted Catholic, Mr. Vega found strength, community, and peace in his faith. Throughout his life, he attended many churches in the various cities where he lived, and his devotion to God was a source of great personal comfort.
Carlos will be remembered for his unparalleled humor and ability to make instant friends wherever he went. His quick wit and joyful spirit lit up every room, bringing laughter and companionship to those around him. He worked tirelessly throughout his life in restaurant management, telecom construction and operations, and as a bus driver, taking passengers all around the United States. He also enjoyed serving as a high school football referee, traveling, taking scenic drives with his children, and watching football with his brothers and sisters.
Mr. Vega leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, hard work, and faith. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to friends and loved ones for the outpouring of support, prayers, and kindness during this difficult time. Your outreach has brought comfort and strength, and will always be remembered with deep appreciation.
