Clara Mae Robertson (Plainview)

Clara Mae Laney Robertson, 98, of Plainview, Texas passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2025 in Plainview, Texas. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, September 8, 2025 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel. Interment will follow at Hale Center Cemetery in Hale Center, Texas. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview, Texas.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, September 7, 2025 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors.

Clara was born on May 20, 1927 in Plainview, Texas to Coke and Irene Laney. She attended Hale Center Schools. A proud graduate of Texas Tech University in 1949, Clara earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, fulfilling her passion for teaching and nurturing young minds. She devoted 30 years to her calling in education, shaping the lives of her students with kindness and dedication. Beyond her career, Clara had a lifelong interest in farming, actively participating in farming management until her mid-90s. This connection to the land and her love for the community was an integral part of her life. Clara was also deeply committed to her faith, being a devoted member of the Garland Street Church of Christ, where she found solace and connection with her fellow Christians there. Clara was known for her warmth and generosity, often opening her home to host bridal and wedding showers and gatherings, welcoming friends and family with open arms. She and Fred attended weddings, funerals and loved one’s life events faithfully bringing their joy and genuine smiles.

Clara is preceded in death by her parents, Coke and Irene Laney; her husband, Fred Robertson; one son, Byron Laney Robertson and two sisters, Norene Laney and Barbara Stokes.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan Devine and husband Jerry of Lubbock, Texas and one grandson, Kevin Devine of Lubbock, Texas.

Susan and Jerry are deeply appreciative of the loving and devoted care of Clara by Terry Zamora and Maria Zamora over the past seven years.
