Cleveland Joe Henderson, Sr. (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas- Cleveland Joe Henderson, Sr., 70, went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Thursday, May 5, 2022.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at 11:00 AM. in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Rev. David Haynes and Rev. J.J. Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.

 A wake for the family and friends will be held Friday, May 13, 2022, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at the funeral home in Tulia.

Cleveland Joe Henderson, Sr., was born on December 23, 1951, in Tulia to Louis and Mattie Lee (Hunter) Henderson. Cleveland graduated from Tulia High School in 1968 and enlisted in the United States Army with his good friend Jerry Clayton as Battle Buddies during the Vietnam War. After being honorably discharged from the Army, Cleveland worked as a truck driver for Tommy Evans and worked for Midwestern for a couple of years. He was a caretaker for his mother Mattie Lee Henderson until her passing on December 10, 2005. He enjoyed working on his house and in the yard. Cleveland was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He loved his dogs Peaches, Pumpkin and Kaci. He loved to listen to music, dance and watch sports. Cleveland was a member of the Jackson Chapel Church of God in Christ Church. He will be remembered as a funny, caring and loving person.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Mattie Lee Henderson, his brother, Veotis  Henderson, his grandson, Dorian Henderson, and his special friend, Ella Mae Gardner Muhammad.

He is survived by his children, Nanette Henderson, Yolanda Henderson, Cleveland Joe Henderson Jr., Latonya Henderson, Guy Henderson, Quincy Henderson, Veronica Henderson, and Cedric Parker; his former wives, Nancy Henderson, Debra Thompson, and Janice Parker, 19 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

The family would especially like to thank Annie Saucedo for taking care of Cleveland for the past two years.
