Corine McDowell (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas—Corine McDowell, 79, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2023. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, January 28, 2023, in the Tulia Christian Fellowship Church with pastor Rusty Gray officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 27, 2023, from 6:00 to 7:30 pm at the funeral home.

Corine was born on November 1, 1943, in Spur to Fon and Vivian Shaw. She grew up in Dickens. She moved to Tulia and started working at the Richardson Café where she met Bill McDowell. They married on April 3, 1964. After their marriage they moved to Vega and then to Amarillo. She worked for Amarillo ISD in the cafeteria for several years and then was the bookkeeper for Baldwin Trucking Co. for about 15 years. They moved to Plainview for several years where she received her beauticians license and was a hairdresser. They moved to Tulia about 11 years ago. She loved to go fishing. She was a faithful member of Tulia Christian Fellowship Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her siblings: Gustine Beaver, Cliff Shaw, Tommy Shaw, Darrell Shaw, Carl Shaw, Donnie Shaw Marie Byrd and 2 infant siblings.

She is survived by her husband Bill McDowell, her son: Joe McDowell of Tulia, her daughter: Donna Sanchez and husband David of Kress, her stepdaughter: Frankie Burress of Pittsburg, two brothers: Dean Shaw of Slaton and Dennis Shaw of Aspermont, two sisters: Lillie Mae Davis of Spur and Flora Lee Nixon of Vega 10 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 3 step-great grandchildren.
