Dale Street (Plainview)

Dale Street, 90, of Kress passed away on Sunday, July 25, 2021. Funeral services will be held at Kornerstone Chapel in Plainview at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, July 29, 2021 with Jerry Bevill officiating and Kim Hays assisting. Interment will follow at Kress Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Plainview.

A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at Kornerstone.

Dale was born on November 8, 1930 to Jess and Glenidine Street in Plainview, Texas. He graduated from Kress High School in 1948. Dale married JoAnn Shuping on November 22, 1952. He was member of the Kress Church of Christ.

Dale and his brother, Billy, farmed together as “Street Brothers” for forty-five years in the Claytonville area. He always loved growing cotton and raising cattle. After retirement, he continued his love of farming by driving the tractor for other farmers, growing a garden and working for Boll Weevil. He served on the Swisher County ASCS Committee from 1975 to 1980, and was chairman for the latter part of his term.

Dale enjoyed playing dominoes his entire life and won multiple tournaments throughout the state of Texas. He was co-founder of the Kress Senior Citizens Domino Tournament. Dale and JoAnn were very active members of the Kress Senior Citizens after retiring from farming.

Attending any sporting event for Kress was a favorite activity for Dale. He was a member of the Kress Booster Club, and he cheered on any and all Kangaroo teams. He watched from 1949 to 2021 when he was still cheering on his great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by an infant son, Joe Dale; his parents; his two brothers, Donald and Billy.

He is survived by his wife, JoAnn; his daughters Anja (Mike) Carlisle of McKinney, Kathy (Kelly) Durham of Kress; his son, Johnny (Kim) Street of Plainview; grandchildren Monty (Stacy) Durham of Argyle, Jessica (Scott) Rowe of Allen, Jamie (Dane) Morphis of Plainview, Ross (Amanda) Carlisle of McKinney, Dusty (Britnee) Street of Lubbock, Travis Street of Lubbock, and JuLea (Brent) Bouma of Plainview; great-grandchildren Mayce, Bryce, Blake and Brayden Durham, Emerson, Hayden, Lincoln and Coleman Rowe, Dillon, Drew and JaLea Morphis, Harlin and Jase Street, BerkLea, Ellie and Johnny Bouma; his sister, Glenna Callendar of Odessa and many niece and nephews

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that you honor Dale by considering donations to the Kress Cemetery Fund or Beautify Kress Fund, both at the Kress National Bank or a favorite charity of your choice.
