Livestream & Recording of Darrell’s Celebration of Life 

Darrell E. Turner, 93, of Plainview passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 surrounded by his family. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 4:00 P.M. Friday, May 23, 2025 in the Kornerstone Chapel with Mr. Guy Atkinson, Traditions Hospice Chaplain officiating.  Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.

Darrell was born on December 22, 1931 in Rogers, Arkansas to Averill and Elva Turner. He grew up in Rogers, Arkansas and attended schools there. He graduated from high school in Seligman, Missouri in 1950. After high school, Darrell enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served for 4 years stateside. He married Gayle Fry on July 1, 1951 in Amarillo, Texas. They settled in Lubbock, Albuquerque, Rogers Arkansas, Muleshoe and in Plainview. He was in the car business for many years and owned and operated his own dealership for many years. After selling his dealership, Darrell went into the banking industry. He retired from banking but couldn't stay home so he returned to the bank as a teller for 5 years. He also picked up and delivered cars for dealers. Darrell was a long-time member of the Lions Club, member and deacon of the First Baptist Churches in Muleshoe and Plainview. He also taught Sunday school and was a fill-in music leader and led music for revivals. He also served as the Mayor of Muleshoe for 8 years. Darrell loved cars and owned 70 of them throughout his lifetime.

Darrell was preceded in death by his wife, Gayle Turner; parents, Averill and Elva Turner; and a sister, Phyllis McIntyre.

Survivors include his children, Keith Turner and wife Linda of Plainview, Jacque Boutell and husband Tom of Muleshoe, Cindy Scott and husband Phil of Cocoa, Florida; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
