A Tribute to a Life Well-Lived

David Orlando Bye was born on December 8, 1941 to James Orlando and Zella Mae Bye in Lake Mills, Iowa. David grew up on a dairy farm in Southern Minnesota. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Dairy Science from Iowa State University where he met the love of his life Judy Bye. Later in life, he earned a Master of Education Degree from Texas Tech University and a Master of Agriculture Degree from West Texas State University.

David managed the Hidden Valley Ranch Dairy in Nevada. He later moved to Finney, Texas and was the Manager/Owner of Cloverlake Dairy, where he and his wife raised their three children. He also taught for the Windham School District. He was an active member of the Plainview community and an active member of Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church, Plainview, Texas.

He was very proud of his children and grandchildren. He loved them very much. He and Judy made a point to make it to all important activities. They were even honored by Kress School as “Fan of the Year”.

David is preceded in death by his parents, Orlando and Zella Bye, and brother James Edward Bye.

He is survived by his wife Judy Bye, his daughter Angie (David) Rowley, his son Mickey (Dena) Bye, and daughter Lisa (Marc) Nunley, 13 grandchildren, three great grandchildren, his brother Raymond Selmer Bye, his sister Susan Kay Bernau, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held at Kornerstone Funeral Home in Plainview Texas on Saturday, 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The funeral service will take place at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, in Plainview, July 2, 2025, at 2:00 pm. David will be interned at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, which is across the road from the family farm in Southern Minnesota.
