Denise Gastineau (Tulia)

Gloria Denise Gastineau, 59, went to be with her heavenly Father on Saturday, October 21, 2023, in Tulia. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 27, 2023, in the First Baptist Church with Rev. John Gillespie officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.

Denise was born on March 9, 1964, in Tulia to Mack “Bud” and Wynelle (Keeter) George. She graduated from Tulia High School in 1982. After graduating high school, she attended West Texas State University, graduating with a degree in business education in 1986. Her 35-year teaching career was spent mainly in special education, although she started as a business education teacher. She taught in Mobeetie, Matador, Seminole, Tulia, and Nazareth. It was while she was in Matador that she met and married Ron Gastineau. They had two children, Jacob, and Hannah. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she was active in many church activities, including serving faithfully in the nursery for many years. Denise loved mission trips with the church, going to Peru in 2019 and Washington state in the summer of July 2023.  She helped with Sunday School in the children’s department and enjoyed Women’s Bible Study. She helped organize the Class of 1982 reunions.  Her grandson, Brooks, was her best friend and would call Denise “DeDe.”  She loved spending time with him.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her son, Jacob Gastineau, of Perryton, TX; her daughter, Hannah Gastineau and husband Taylor Tindell of Willow, OK; her sisters, Vonda Kitchel of Amarillo, TX, and Renee Hartman of Tulia; her grandson, Brooks Tindell; nieces and nephews, Kristen Jefferson and husband Daniel, Zane Hartman, and Ryan Hartman; her great nieces and nephews, Jocelyn, Zoey, William, Clark, and Louise; and a host of other family and friends.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, Mission, and Preschool Fund, 101 N. Crosby, Tulia, Texas 79088.
