Donald “Don” McCain, 88, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, August 3, 2026 in the First Baptist Church with Pastor Kris Knippa officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hil Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.
A visitation will be held at 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Sunday, August 2, 2026 at the funeral home.
Don was born on September 26, 1937, in Delwin, Texas, to J.T. and Viola (Barton) McCain. Donald lived a life rich with purpose and love, graduating from Paducah High School in 1954 before embarking on a lifelong journey of hard work and dedication to his family. In Lubbock, Donald married his best friend, Pat Bryan, with whom he shared countless joyful moments until her passing on June 13, 1994. A devoted farmer for many years, he later transitioned to work at several Chevrolet dealerships, where he was recognized for his unwavering commitment and work ethic. Donald had a passion for golf that he pursued with enthusiasm, and he was a proud and loyal fan of Texas Tech University. Above all, his greatest joy came from his grandchildren, who were the light of his life, as well as his beloved grand dog, Chango, who brought him endless happiness.
He is preceded in death by his parents, J.T. and Viola McCain; his wife, Pat McCain.
He is survived by his daughters, Kimberly Hill and husband Brad of Tulia and Kristi Lamb of Tulia; his sister, June Doan and husband Billy of Lumberton, T.X.; his grandchildren, Nicole Stiefel, Hunter Lamb, Shelbie Box and husband Brandon, James Hill and wife Julia, Laura Kate Graham and husband Rafa; and his great grandchildren, Alice Sperle and Bennet Hill.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made at Runningwater Draw Care Center, PO Box 409, Olton, TX 79064.
