His servant’s heart earned him the 1992 “7 Who Care” award from Channel 7 in Amarillo. This annual award was designed to recognize local volunteers for their tireless service to their community and others.

Donald began collecting and restoring antique farm equipment with a special interest in all things John Deere. Donald was a founding member of The Two-Cylinder Tractor Club and held several offices. He was also a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church in Tulia.
