Donald Lee Southerland (Tulia)

Donald Lee Southerland, 84, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2026. Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Donald was born on September 29, 1942, in Turkey, Texas to Homer and Mary (George) Southerland. He grew up working on the family farm, learning the value of hard work at an early age as he helped drive tractors alongside his Papa.

Donald married his best friend, Linda Earley, and together they shared 60 wonderful years of marriage until her passing in 2022. A devoted husband and family man, Donald's love and dedication to his family were evident in every aspect of his life.

Professionally, Donald was a talented mechanic who spent many years employed at John Deere, contributing his skills to several locations, including Tulia and Hobart, Oklahoma, as well as Olton, Texas. His commitment to his work in the agricultural industry earned him the respect of his colleagues and friends.

In his free time, Donald had a passion for watching Western shows, a pastime he cherished, especially on weekends. He enjoyed going to church at Assembly of God and throughout his life, he remained a steadfast and kind-hearted individual who always lent a helping hand to those in need.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Mary Southerland; his wife, Linda Southerland; his son, Matthew L. Southerland; his siblings, Patsy Bagget, Jackie Price, Mary Jo Daniels, Cathy Byer and Louise Fisher.

He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia J Southerland Sawatzky-Dotson and husband Raymond; his son, Neal L. Southerland and wife Adel; four grandchildren, Heaven Lee Southerland, Keely Southerland, Brynn Southerland and Mckenna Southerland.
