Donald Kenneth Taylor was born on April 19, 1931 in Floyd County, Texas and moved to his eternal heavenly home on January 1, 2021.  He grew up in Plainview, Texas along with his parents, John and Bessie Taylor, and two brothers and four sisters. He met and fell in love with his childhood sweetheart, Frances Vernell Taylor, and they were married in Plainview, Texas in 1949. They resided in Plainview, Texas and were married for 35 years until Vernell’s untimely death in November of 1984. He married for a second time in April of 1989 to Audrey Kerbo Taylor and they were married for 31 years until his death.   He was an independent businessman working in the Plainview area his entire life, participating in the retail grocery business (Don’s Drive In Grocery), farming and custom harvesting, and rental real estate.  In his early years he worked at the Plainview Daily Herald as a type setter. He was a long time member of the Lions Club.  He was a devoted family man who loved his family and his Lord deeply and served as an example of a man who lived his life with honor and integrity.

He is preceded in death by a brother, Charlie Taylor and his sisters, Evelyn Hudgins, Edna Hudgins, Ruby Birdsong, Bessie Collis.  He is survived by his wife Audrey Taylor, one  brother, Windell Taylor and two sisters, Edith James and Juanell Newton, his three children, Donna Steward and husband Gary of Aurora, CO, Kenneth Taylor and wife Marylin of Lubbock, TX, Sharon Henderson and husband Edd of Aubrey, TX as well as nine grandchildren, Garret Steward and wife Sarah, Mary Chamberlin and husband Ryan, Melissa Gilman and husband Mark, Taylor Steward, Johnathan Steward, Kenna Taylor, Susan Taylor,  Jason Henderson and wife Taylor, Tiffany Benolken and husband Aaron, along with nine great grandchildren, Emily and Harper Steward, Kayla and Peyton Gilman, Addison Taylor, Wyatt, Kate, and Ella Benolken, and Elizabeth Henderson.

A celebration of his life will be held Saturday January 9, 2021 at 2:00pm at Kornerstone Funeral Director’s Chapel, 3605 SW 3rd Street, Plainview, TX.   In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Texas Lions Camp, 4100 San Antonio Hwy, Kerrville, TX 78028, or Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch, 600 SW 11th Avenue, Amarillo, TX  79101.
