Donna Rhea Blankenship, 78, of Plainview passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2024. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donna donated her body to science through the Willed Body Program at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Arrangements are under the personal care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.
Donna was born on May 27, 1946 in Plainview, Texas. She attended schools in Plainview and graduated from Plainview High School in 1961. She married Royce “Guy” Blankenship on December 11, 1962. Donna was an avid Scottie dog lover, bird lover, and history buff. She also introduced the game Mahjongg to Plainview. She was an avid player and wonderful teacher of it as she taught many to play from here, Alabama to Virginia. She was a faithful RV co-pilot with Guy as they RV’d across the United States for over a decade. Donna was a farmer’s wife, a wonderful homemaker often working on needlepoint, painting and quilting projects. She worked at Stovall-Booher Radiator Shop to help run the family business. She also worked with individuals going through adult probation assisting them to get their GEDs. She was a beautiful, loving person surrounded by loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, and her mother Betty Evans.
Donna is survived by her three daughters, Kim Skrtic and husband Gregory of Falls Church, Virginia, Cindy Szenttronyay and husband Imre of Lubbock, Claire Buchanan and husband Scott of Plainview; brother, Russell Evans; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials in Donna’s memory to Traditions Hospice, 4300 Olton Rd., Plainview, Texas 79072.
