Earnest Julius Brown, Sr. (Tulia)

Earnest Julius Brown, Sr., 87, of Tulia passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 21, 2026 in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.

A visitation will be held prior before the service at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home. 

Earnest was born to Lureaner Bunton and Johnny Brown on December 23, 1938 in Lelia Lake, Texas. He married Edna King in 1958. Together they had six children: Stanely, Ernest, Jr., Debbie. Walter, and Connie, and one still born daughter.

He owned two mechanic shops in Tucumcari, New Mexico. He managed the Phillips 66 Station in Tulia for many years. He later relocated to Texas City and was owner of a Mechanic Shop in Santa Fe, Texas.

His pride and joy were his family, especially his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved to play dominoes and scratch off lottery tickets.

He enjoyed cooking and eating all the food that was bad for your health. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lureaner Bunton and Johnny Brown; his wife, Edna King; and his two children, Debbie and Ernest, Jr. 

He is survived by his children, Stanley Brown, Walter Brown, Connie Matthews and husband Vergual; five brothers and one sister, Early Bunton and wife Barbra, Freddie Bunton, Richard Bunton, Matiga Bunton, Donald Ray Brown and Dena Mae Brown; three sister-in-law, Sharon Johnson, Tammy King and Pamela Smith, and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
