Elaine Doris Adrian Schur, 94, passed thru life into eternal life on Friday, May 8, 2026 in Plainview, TX. A funeral service be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at 10A.M. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Plainview. Interment will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.
A visitation will be held on Monday, May 11, 2026 from 6-7:30 P.M. at Kornerstone Funeral Directors of in Plainview.
Elaine Adrian was born on January 10, 1932 in Mercedes, Texas to OJ and Elma Adrian. She attended schools in Mercedes and Clarksville, graduating in 1948. She attended Paris Junior College for two years, majoring in Home Economics. After attending college, she moved to Plainview when her parents had moved west of Plainview to farm. She met Martin at the church, where they both had parts in a church play, and were married on September 19, 1950. They were the first couple to be married in the new St. Paul Lutheran Church. They began their wedded life in the Happy Union community, raising chickens, pigs and farming wheat, cotton, sorghum. In 1960 they moved northeast of Plainview. Elaine was very active in being a farmers’ wife. She took many meals to the field during harvest time and sewed hers and the girls’ clothes. She canned the garden produce, raised chickens and always had a perfect yard with beautiful petunias. She was a lifelong member of St Paul Lutheran Church, she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and was a board member of the Ladies Missionary League. She served in all capacities of the local group. She served many years on the American Cancer Society board and helped plan many Cotton Barrons’ Balls. Among their many blessings were two daughters, Linda Schur Mahoney, Carolyn Schur Redden and one son, Glenn Schur.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Martin, her parents, one brother, Ronald Adrian.
She is survived by her 3 children, Linda Schur Mahoney of San Antonio, TX, Carolyn Redden and husband Corky of Throckmorton, TX and Glenn Schur and wife Dina of Plainview, three grandchildren, Jason Mahoney and wife Brenda of Melissa TX, Lori Brooks and husband Tim of Peachtree Corners, Georgia and Layton Schur and wife Jessi of Plainview TX. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren, James Brooks, Jacob Brooks and Sedonia Schur.
