Elena "Nena" Cabrera (Plainview)

Elena "Nena" Cabrera, 77, of Kress passed away on June 2, 2024. A Rosary will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Kress at 6:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Kress at 10:30 A.M. with Father Hector Madrigal officiating. The community is welcome to pay their respects to Mrs. Cabrera starting from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 5, 2024 and 8:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, June 6, 2024 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Interment will follow at Kress Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.
 
Elena was born and raised in Robstown, Texas where she met and married her soulmate, Antonio Cabrera, on September 2, 1962. Together they raised their children in their loving household. Elena dedicated many years of her life working in various roles, including at the Kress ISD cafeteria and at a local restaurant before venturing out to establish her own successful business, Nena's in Kress. Her culinary talents and dedication to excellent service led her to relocate her business to Plainview in 1990, where she continued to serve the community with warmth and love. Despite facing the challenges of being diagnosed with two different types of cancer, Elena bravely fought and overcame these illnesses, showcasing her resilience and inspiring all those who knew her. Known for her giving heart and charitable nature, Elena was an integral part of her community, donating food to local churches and organizations and offering a helping hand to those in need. She adored her family, cherished her role as a grandmother, and was a friend to all who crossed her path. Elena found joy in shopping and trips to the casino, but above all, she was known for her unwavering faith and her consistent prayers for those around her. Elena "Nena" Cabrera leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and generosity that will continue to inspire all those who were lucky enough to know her.
 
Elena is preceded in death by her parents; Eduardo and Concepcion Maldonado, son; Tony Cabrera, Jr., brothers; Oscar Maldonado and Carlos Maldonado, sisters; Hortencia Vuittonet and Linda Guerra.
 
Elena is survived by her loving husband, Antonio Cabrera, daughters; Eva Cabrera (Keith Perry) of El Reno, Oklahoma, Cynthia Stockstill (Mark Stockstill) of Banning, California, Kayla Cabrera (Ricky Quintero) of Kress, Texas, Mara Cabrera of Lubbock, Texas, Emily Cabrera of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Ellie Cabrera of Kress, Texas, brothers; Joe Maldonado of Kress, Texas, and Peter Maldonado of Round Rock, Texas, sister; Bertha Garza of Hereford, Texas, ten grandchildren, and thirteen loving great-grandchildren.
