Ella Mae Muhammad (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas-Ella Mae Gardner Muhammad, 64, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, in Tulia. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 19, 2021, at 11:00 AM at the Church of God in Christ Jackson Chapel with Pastor David Haynes officiating with burial following at Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at 5:00 to 7:00 PM in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel.

Ella Mae was born on February 22, 1957 in Tulia to Curtis LeRoy Sr. and Gertrude (Dick) Gardner. She attended schools at Kress High School and later moved to California in the 1970’s. Ella came to Tulia and took care of children for a while and later moved to Chicago, Illinois and Oklahoma City. In the 2000’s Ella came back to Swisher County and worked at the Conestoga and Blue Top restaurant for many years. She would watch many children and she was known as “Mimi”. She was a member of the Church of God in Christ Jackson Chapel.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her siblings; Lois Watson, Eunice June and JD Gardner.

She is survived by her children; Rena Gardner, Jealousy Moore, Ricky Moore, Aidan Moore, Arik Angui and Deng Angui all of Tulia, her best friend; Cleveland Henderson, her brothers; Curtis LeRoy Gardner, Jr., Julius Gardner, Hansell Gardner and Charles Yarbrough all of Tulia, John Henry Gardner of Midland, and her sister; Doretha Johnson of Plainview, 2 grandchildren; Renijah Sledge and DeVondre Sledge both of Tulia and a host of nieces and nephews.
