Emma “Em” was born on December 11, 1933, to Marvin and Mary Morton.  She grew up in Kress and graduated from Kress High School in 1952.  On January 17, 1976, she married Earl Butler. She retired from a banking career in 1998.  Em was a lifelong member of the Kress Church of Christ.

Em was full of energy and always brought a smile and laugh to those around her. She enjoyed being active and serving in the Tulia community for years.  She was a member of the RSV Club, the Ladies’ Auxiliary, the Hospital Auxiliary and the Home Artists’ Study Club.  Em volunteered in taking cancer patients to Amarillo for their treatment, supported Tulia High School basketball teams and entertained folks by dressing up as a clown with Evelyn Rossi.

One of Em’s greatest passions was for cooking.  She was an excellent cook and was always willing to make a jello salad for the potlucks.  She also enjoyed traveling with whoever was ready to go and attending her grandkids’ sporting events.

Em was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl Butler, deceased March 15, 1998; and two siblings, Moyle Bundrick and Robert Morton.

She is survived by her children, Carla Propst and husband, Bruce, of Canyon, Texas, and Zane Weiss and wife, Lori, of Edmond, Oklahoma; her sister, Marvine Francies of Graford, Texas; sisters-in-law, Cathy Coile of Tulia, Texas, and Carolyn Butler of Amarillo, Texas; five grandchildren:  Trichelle Caldwell and husband, Jason; Brittni Weiss; Wesley Weiss and wife, Brandy; Cody Weiss and wife, Sarah; and Geoffrey Weiss and wife, Reagan; and eight great-grandchildren:  Tomaso, Sy, Berlin, Jada, Jaxson, Ellis, Lucie, and Alexander.
