Etta was born to Docia and Ernest Wall, Sr. in Sayre, OK on July 24, 1928. They moved from there to Morton, TX where she attended schools and graduated in 1946. After graduating high school her family moved to Portales, NM where she met and married the love of her life, Leon "Jim" Gilbert on March 24, 1955. They were married 63 years before his passing in 2018. After their wedding they lived in Plainview where she was a cake decorator for many years. They were very active at Calvary Baptist Church in Plainview, where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and hosted many missionaries in their home. She enjoyed cooking and hosting, no one ever left hungry. She was "Nannan" to her family and she loved spending time with them. Especially in her later years, she enjoyed her daily Dr. Pepper, watching FoxNews, studying Biblical prophecy, and watching her favorite Sunday School teacher (Mike) online.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Leon "Jim" Gilbert; one daughter, Jeanie DeLyn Davis; one son, Kenneth Don Gilbert; her parents; three brothers, Lloyd Wall, Ernest Wall, Jr. and Andy Wall; one sister, Leona "Sissy' Summers.

She is survived by her son, Mike Gilbert and his wife Donna of Lubbock; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Vitz of Lubbock, Jeremy Gilbert of Gillette, WY, Aaron Davis of Littlefield, Cory Davis of Smyer, Katie Ruiz of Olton, Sarah Jaramillo of Littlefield, Trevor Gilbert of Plainview, and Trace Gilbert of Lubbock; 25 great grandchildren.

The family gratefully acknowledges the many wonderful friends who regularly visited her, helped her when she had a need, and shared a meal with her. She had four wonderful caretakers over the past year and an everyday visit from the great folks at Meals on Wheels.

Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church PO Box 1345 Plainview, Texas 79072.
