Frances Jean Crawford (Tulia)

Frances Jean Crawford, 88, of Tulia passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at 2:00 PM in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Pastor Rusty Gray officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at 5:30 to 7:30 PM at the funeral home. 

Frances, who was born on April 8, 1936, to Elmer O. and Lucille (Harmon) Crawford. Frances, an accomplished beautician, dedicated 27 years of her life to the beauty industry, both working alongside her great-aunt Blanche Jennings and eventually owning her own beauty shop in Amarillo, Texas. She would cut hair for many wrestlers especially Terry Funk, Jr.
 
Throughout her life, Frances was known for her love for animals, spending her days caring for her pigs, chickens, and her favorite horse, Buttermilk on her family farm in Lubbock. She was also a dedicated member of her community, known for preparing meals for cowboys and workers in the Earth and Lubbock areas.
 
Frances met her beloved husband, Royce Clinton Crawford, at the City Drug Store in Tulia, leading to a beautiful marriage ceremony at the First Baptist Church in New Mexico by Pastor W.E. King. Together, they shared a life imbued with faith, love, and service.
 
Frances will be remembered for her involvement in various community activities, serving as a Cub Scout leader and den mother alongside her daughter Diane. Her commitment to her Christian faith was unwavering, and she treasured her trip to Israel, with her sister flora, where she climbed 50 steps to reach the Dome of the Rock and perform sacraments in the upper room.
 
A devout Christian, Frances transformed her residence into a sacred space, named the "Santa Fe Mission," where she fostered an environment of spiritual growth and love.
 
Frances is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Lucille Crawford, her stepfather, Clyce Lee, her daughter, Diane Jean Crawford, her sister, Vonnie Pauline Gifford and her husband, Royce Clinton Crawford,

She is survived by her sons, Royce Clinton Crawford, Jr, and Rickie Dale Crawford, her brothers, Leon Jerrell Crawford, Dan Lee, David Lee, Robert Lee and Fred Lee, her sister, Flora Crawford, numerous grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
