Frieda was born on August 13, 1948, in Borger, Texas, to A.J. and Fannie McKinney. She graduated from Borger High School and moved to Plainview in 1974, where she spent the rest of her life. Frieda worked for many years at Edmonson Wheat Growers, where she was a dedicated and valued employee.
A woman of deep kindness and generosity, Frieda had a heart for service. She volunteered faithfully at her church’s clothing closet, always seeking ways to help others. Known for her delicious “friendship cakes,” she loved baking and sharing them with friends, neighbors, and anyone who stopped by for a visit.
Frieda found joy in the simple pleasures of life—spending time with her family and friends, working in her yard, cooking, shopping, and caring for those around her. She never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Her warmth, sense of humor, and unwavering love left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
She married Ricky Kelm, on August 13, 2011, in Plainview. Frieda was a longtime member of First Methodist Church, where her faith remained a guiding light in her life.
Frieda is survived by her husband, Ricky of Plainview; her daughters, Kristi Mattox and husband Tom of Prosper, and Tami Hayes and husband Ryan of Van Alstyne; son in law, Chip Stanford; six grandchildren, Riley Stanford and wife Shara, Samantha Foster and husband Will, Payton Mattox, Brody Mattox, Cale Hayes and wife Gracie, and Caden Hayes; and five great-grandchildren, Harli Stanford, Haylen Stanford, Stetson Stanford, Stratton Stanford, and Wyatt Foster.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Beverly Stanford; a grandson, Parker John Mattox; and her siblings.
Frieda will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Her legacy of compassion, faith, and love will live on through the many lives she touched.
