Heriberto “Sweet Potato”” Camota” Garcia, Sr. 73, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2025. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, May 10, 2025 in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Pastor Anthony Longoria officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.
A prayer service will be held from 5:30 to 8:00 PM Friday, May 9, 2025 in the Kornerstone chapel.
Heriberto Garcia was born in Weslaco, Texas, to Guadalupe and Maria Esther (Lopez) Garcia. He dedicated a significant part of his career to the Tulia Compress during the seasonal periods, while also embracing self-employment. Known for his industrious nature, Heriberto was a jack of all trades; his skills spanned construction, demolition, and various other trades, demonstrating a remarkable work ethic that earned him respect throughout the Tulia community.
Beyond his professional life, Heriberto was a man of many passions. He enjoyed playing pool, singing, and dancing, finding joy in these activities. A devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, he shared his enthusiasm for the team with family and friends. Most importantly, Heriberto cherished his time spent with his family, creating lasting memories that will be fondly remembered.
Heriberto Garcia’s legacy of hard work, dedication, and love for his family will continue to inspire those who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Guadalupe and Maria Esther Garcia, his brother, Antonio “Tony” Garcia.
He is survived by his ex-wife, Raquel Garcia of Tulia; his children, Raul Gomez of Canyon, Rene Garcia of Tulia, Heriberto Garcia, Jr. and Lacee Spann of Plainview, Guadalupe Garcia of Tulia, Nestor Garcia and wife Rosa of Plainview and Maria Esther Garcia of Plainview, his sisters, Rosa Gutierrez of San Antonio, Eliva Hernandez and Idolina Garcia both of Weslaco, fifteen grandchildren, Mailea, Myles and Gabby Gomez, Claudia, Alexandria and Isacc Garcia, Natacia and Guadalupe Jr, Garcia, Isaiah and Karolina Garcia, Dylan, Kayson and Bentlee Spann, Anahi and Elias Magallanes, four great grandchildren and one on the way.
