James Fred Greer (Plainview)

James "Fred" Greer 86, of Plainview passed away on Friday, October 10, 2025. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 15, 2025 in the chapel of Kornerstone Funeral Directors with Joseph Johnson and James Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 14, 2025 from 5-7 P.M. at the funeral home.

Fred was born on August 3, 1939 in Hale Center, Texas to Jeff Newton and Jewel Rebecca (Lockridge) Greer. He married Nancy Cate on May 27, 1962 in Plainview, Texas. After graduating High School he served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Greer worked for Pioneer Seed where he performed various duties and retired after 34 years of employment. He enjoyed fishing, camping, wood work, hunting and volunteering at Caprock Canyons State Park but most of all enjoyed his children and grandchildren. He served as a Deacon of Seth Ward Baptist Church, Parkview Baptist Church and Northside Baptist Church.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Gerry Staples, Betty Maddox, Margaret McKinney, Doris Watkins and Polly Scott and one brother, Ben Greer.

He is survived by his wife Nancy Greer; one daughter, Kelly Herrera & husband Max; one son, Dewayne Greer & wife Carol; four grandchildren, Tiffany Herrera, Amber & husband Michael Cox, Amy Greer, Brandon & wife Elizabeth Greer and great grandchildren, Aiden & Cheyenne Greer.
