James Cory McCasland, 47, of Plainview passed away on Monday, October 27, 2025. A memorial service will be held at 5:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel in Plainview, Texas with Mark Yarbrough officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.
James Cory McCasland was born on October 3, 1978, in Hale Center, Texas to Jimmy and Patsy McCasland. James was raised in a military family which had him growing up and traveling all over the United States and England. In his childhood, he immersed himself in athletics and developed a love for sports. James's journey took a beautiful turn when he reconnected with the love of his life, Karen, in 2011. Their connection was undeniable, and they officially tied the knot on April 4, 2013. Together, they shared countless adventures and laughter, building a life filled with love and companionship. James was a dedicated husband and father, as well as an enthusiastic fisherman, an avid reader, and a music lover who could often be found jamming to his favorite tunes. He had a knack for fantasy football that kept his friends entertained and engaged. An active and helpful partner, James always made sure to support Karen and those around him, brightening each day with his kind spirit and infectious enthusiasm. James was so loved and will be missed by many friends and family.
James is preceded in death by his mother, Patsy Ann McCasland, and grandparents, John H. and Shirley Ruth McCasland.
James is survived by his wife, Karen McCasland; his father, Jimmy McCasland; his two sons, Kaleb Mansell and Kaden Mansell; his brothers, John Casey, and Justin Cody and his partner Sierra Gonzales; his sister, Jennifer Grasso and husband Eric; brother-in-law, Doug Henderson and wife Brandy; in-laws, Mike and Kathy Henderson; nieces and nephews, Vincent Grasso, Isabella Grasso, Allister McCasland, Hadley Smith and husband Jack, Reagan Henderson, Scott Henderson; great-niece, Freya Smith, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
