James (Jim) was born November 13, 1950 to Inez Hammer Moseley and James Mickey McClain, in Grand Prairie, Texas. He attended school in Arlington, Texas and graduated Sam Houston High School in 1969. Soon after, he joined the United States Marine Corp attaining the rank of Sergeant (E-5) where he received an Honorable Discharge in 1973. During that time, he was stationed in Hawaii for two years; and enjoyed climbing Diamond Head in Oahu. He was a proud Marine living boldly the motto; once a marine, always a marine.
