Joe Rogers (Plainview)

Joseph Walter Rogers passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2022, he was 79.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, October 31, 2022 at St. Alice Catholic Church with Father George Poonely officiating.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 30, 2022 at the funeral home.

Joe was born on November 25, 1942 in Carrollton, Missouri to Landon Cass and Cecilia Miller Rogers. He attended Luckey High school in Manhattan, Kansas and graduated from Kansas State University. He met Dixie Alford in Dallas and they married in Port Isabel, Texas on July 7, 1973.

After college Joe worked for Link Belt then Fafnir Bearings but found his true calling selling farming implements. He worked for the Tye company, Great Plains, Agco and retired from Lubbock Gasket. He considered himself very lucky that he could get paid for talking and driving and he loved to do both.

Joe enjoyed camping and deer and elk hunting in Colorado and New Mexico when he was younger. As he got older, he was satisfied with just being in the mountains and enjoying the views. Although born in Missouri and raised in Kansas he took to Texas, cowboy boots, wide open spaces with beautiful sunsets and saying y’all very quickly.

Joe was a long-time member of St. Alice Catholic Church and very involved in all the church activities. He delivered Meals on Wheels for years on a weekly basis until his health would not permit.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, one infant sister, Alanda Rose Rogers, and one brother, Landon Henry Rogers.

He is survived by his wife, Dixie Rogers of Plainview, son, J. W. Rogers of San Marcos, Tx, one sister, Thresella Mitchem and husband, Doug of Manhattan Ks.
