John Manuel Flores (Plainview)

John Manuel Flores, 78, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family early Wednesday morning, July 6, 2022. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.
 
John was born on May 27, 1944 in Brady, Texas to Manuel and Antonia Flores. He graduated from Hale Center High School in 1963. During high school, John was a talented running back for the Hale Center High School football team. After graduating he attended Texas Tech University before serving in Vietnam as a gunner in the 25th infantry for the United States Army. He married the love of his life, Elisa Flores on January 20th, 2012 in Plainview Texas. He worked as a diesel mechanic, enjoyed gardening, his dogs, taking long walks, spending time outdoors, watching the series Gunsmoke, listening to coyotes howl, or the rainfall on his tin roof, as well as spending time with his many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren.
 
John is survived by his wife: Elisa Flores, four daughters: Trish Maul (Wade), Sharon Brown (Dana), Amy Rogers, and Veronica Collins (D’Marcus), one son: Pete Gonzales (Crystal), one brother: Rudy Flores (Helen) , and 2 sisters: Josephine Lucero, and Mary Lou Flores, 12 grandchildren, Darnell, Kendra, Kyna, Derrick, Breena, Scarlett, Carrington, Juliana, Zavien, Ava and Aiden, Eden. 5 great grandchildren, Stetson, Ezekiel, Cameron, Hunter, and Marvin. 
 
John is preceded in death by his parents: Manuel G and Antonia Flores, 2 sisters: Betty Lou Martinez and Chavella Martinez, and his great grandson: Malachi Sotelo.
