Joyce, ‘Mimi’ as she was lovingly referred to by her grandchildren and great grandchildren, was born on October 21, 1952 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma to Raymond and Anna Lee (Harris) Davis. She was raised in Oklahoma and graduated from Spiro, Oklahoma in 1970. She met her future husband, Ed Marks, at a small café in Sunset Corner, Oklahoma. After a whirlwind romance, they were married on July 10, 1970 in Muleshoe, Texas. They began their life together in Rotan, TX where they had 2 daughters. She first began as a teacher’s aide, then a P.E. teacher, the elementary librarian and finally finishing her career in LISD as cafeteria manager. Because she was not one to sit idle, she usually took on other jobs such as working at Brown’s Dept. Store and later Schact’s flower shop. She was well known for helping so many in the community. She could often be seen working in her yard and taking care of her flowers as well as digging weeds in friend’s yards. She was a loving and caring person, who was willing to step in and help so many in the community. She is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Anna Lee, 1 sister, Goldie Saulsbury, 2 brothers, Dewitt and Billy Davis, 1 niece, Mary Davis and 1 great-niece, K.D. Osburn. She was greeted by the welcoming arms of Jesus and the ones that she has missed for so long. Any memorials can be made to the American Legion post, PO Box 122, Lockney, TX 79241 The family wants to thank the doctors and nurses in the ER in Lockney, TX, the doctors and nurses at Covenant Hospital in Lubbock, TX and most importantly, the Interim Hospice nurses who took such great care of her in her final days.
