Kathy Ann Zuniga (Tulia)

Kathy Ann Zuniga (Cannon), age 71, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on December 19, 2023, in Amarillo. She was born on December 5, 1951, in Turkey, Texas, to the late Pauline Gibson Cannon and Marvin Lewis (Mutt) Cannon.

Kathy (or Kathie as she often spelled it) was a very special and unique woman. She lived her life with passion, kindness, and with lots of gusto. If she had an opinion, you would be sure to hear of it. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and very proud grandmother. Kathie was known for her strong personality and her unwavering love for her family.

Work has always been something she took pride in. She worked various jobs but found her work helping others was most fulfilling. She spent the majority of her employment as a LVN nurse at several local hospitals.

Even though she never spent time in the military, she was proud of all the military men and women in her family. The extensive list of family members’ service to our country and community were a source of great pride for her.

There was never any doubt she loved the Lord with all her heart. She always took the opportunity to profess her faith and healing from God throughout her journey battling cancer. Raising her kids in the church was also of extreme importance. Her favorite place to worship was with her husband and John Hagee on Sunday mornings.

Kathie enjoyed many hobbies and activities. She loved to cook, craft, boss dad around, and try her luck on a slot machine here and there. Kathie loved all of her furry pets and spent lots of time and energy to ensure they were loved and looked after. One of her most cherished activities was spending time with friends and family.

Kathie is survived by her loving husband, Jesus A Zuniga, her sons, Steven Zuniga and wife Karla, of Amarillo, Michael Zuniga and wife Kaye, of Amarillo; her brothers, Lewis and Robert Cannon of Tulia; two grandchildren, Grant and Avery Zuniga, and countless beloved in-laws. She was preceded in death by her mother, Pauline Gibson Cannon, and her father, Marvin Lewis (Mutt) Cannon.
