Kirby Andrew Dunn (Plainview)

Kirby Andrew Dunn, was born on June 20, 1988, in Beaumont, Texas, and passed away on March 1, 2024, in Lubbock, Texas. After growing up in Bowie, Texas, and graduating Valedictorian, he studied Business at Wayland Baptist University, where he met the love of his life, Catherine. He was a decorated cross country and track athlete throughout his life, including being a six-time NAIA Academic All-American, an eight-time NAIA Track and Field All-American, an NAIA Indoor National Champion in the 1,000 meters. He was also an inductee into the BHS and WBU Athletics Halls of Honor. After graduating from Wayland, he dedicated his entire working life to Harvest Christian Fellowship in Plainview, Texas having worked numerous roles including Associate Pastor. Kirby and Catherine were married July 9, 2011 and have two daughters, Charis Renee (5) and Cassie Joy (2). A book could be written to describe the kind of person Kirby was—how well he loved and encouraged, how driven he was, his loyalty, compassion, and perseverance through any challenge. Kirby deeply loved his wife, kids, and family. He enjoyed running (seriously, he really did), music, peanut M&M’s, and a good laugh. Kirby was personable and always made people feel valued. Though he was often a man of few words, when he had something to say, you listened because you knew his words carried weight. He had a passion for preaching and studying the Word of God. Above all, Kirby lived his life to glorify God and love people. Kirby is survived by his wife, Catherine, and daughters, Charis and Cassie; parents, Chris and Karla Dunn; siblings, Kendra (Jason) Huckabee, and Kevin (Shelby) Dunn; nephews, Judah and Ethan; and niece, Abigail; father- and mother-in-law, John and Ruth Leubner; sister-in-law Somer (Dustin) Gaskins; and nephews, Wylie and Tye; and niece, Kinley. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 8, from 5:00—7:00pm. The Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, March 9, at 10:00am. Both the visitation and service will be held at Harvest Christian Fellowship in Plainview, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to King’s Kid Ministries International, a ministry to orphans and communities in Uganda, which was close to Kirby’s heart. https://www.kingskidhome.com/donate Checks can be sent to the following address (with King’s Kid Uganda in the memo) Community Christian Fellowship P.O.
