Lewis was born on August 12, 1945, in Big Spring, Texas to Richard Wendell and Alice Juanita Senter. Lewis dedicated his life to the land he loved, farming alongside his beloved wife, Joyce, in the Quarterway community. Together, they specialized in seed production, growing Milo and watermelons for seed, while also cultivating cotton, wheat, corn, and cantaloupe. Lewis was not just a dedicated farmer, he was a cherished family man and a friend to many. In 2007, he retired from farming but continued to serve the community through employment at the Hale County Noxious Weed Control, where he shared his expertise and passion for the environment. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, finding joy in fishing trips with close friends Joe Offield and Charles Lane, and enjoying rounds of golf. He had a love for gospel music as he sang with the Millennium Singers, lifting the spirits of those around him. A dedicated member of Planet Fitness, Lewis embraced his fitness journey while building friendships with people in his community. Known for his warm smile and engaging conversations, Lewis made an unforgettable impact on everyone he met. He was deeply committed to his faith and passed on those values to his family, having baptized all of his children and grandchildren, and officiated three of his grandchildren’s weddings. His legacy is a testament to love, guidance, and unwavering faith. A proud member of the FFA during his youth, he was honored as president and awarded the Vanderpool award for outstanding agricultural student. Lewis dedicated many years of service to the Northwest Church of Christ, holding the position of deacon while supporting and guiding his congregation. His life was a beautiful reflection of what it means to be a devoted Christian husband and father. Together, Lewis and Joyce formed a remarkable team, advocating for a life filled with faith, love, and connection.
