Lois Marie Reeves, 79, of Plainview, passed away on Monday, October 19, 2026. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 22,2026 at New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Plainview, Texas.
Lois was born on April 13, 1947 in Fort Morgan, Colorado to Newell and Helen Faye Whaley. She was a woman whose beautiful smile, loving heart, and unwavering faith in God touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. She never met a stranger and had a special way of making everyone around her feel comfortable, welcomed, and loved. She was a mighty woman of God who lived her life with grace, kindness, and a servant’s heart. Lois loved others wholeheartedly and was a true prayer warrior whose faith never wavered. In 2020, she was diagnosed with cancer, but even through the pain and challenges she endured, she continued to wear her smile. Those who knew her would never have guessed the battles she was facing because she chose to meet each day with strength, faith, and love. Her life was a beautiful example of trusting God through every season and loving others without reservation.
Lois and Randell began their love story on a first date at a drive-in movie. After purchasing their tickets, Lois told him, “I don’t watch drive-in movies.” So, Randell took her home, and the two spent hours simply talking and getting to know one another. That evening was the beginning of a love that would last a lifetime. They were married on May 25, 1968, and built a life centered on faith, family, and ministry. Together, they preached at numerous churches, sharing their love for the Lord with others. Lois also poured her heart into teaching, including teaching both of her daughters in Christian school, and she faithfully used her musical talents to play the piano at church. Above all, she was a devoted wife and loving mother who raised her children with faith, wisdom, and unconditional love. She was a steady source of strength for her family, always lifting them up in prayer and leading by example. She also made sure to keep Randell in line, a reflection of the special bond they shared, and loved him deeply throughout their life together. Lois leaves behind a legacy of faith, devotion, laughter, and a love that made everyone feel like family. Her beautiful smile and the light of Christ she carried will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Howard Whaley; one sister, Mary Weimer; and one grandson, Caleb Reeves. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, David Randell Reeves; two daughters, Nicole Reeves and Angela Brown; one sister, Betty Girard; and 3 grandchildren, Gabriella, Makayla and Priscilla.
