Louis Edd Grabbe (Tulia)

Silverton, Texas, Louis Edd Grabbe, 78, passed away on Friday, April 23, 2021 in Lubbock. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 2:30 PM at the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Rev. Rance Young and Rev G.J. Walton officiating. Burial will follow at Silverton Cemetery in Silverton, Texas. Funeral services are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A visitation will be held prior to the service at 1:00 to 2:00 PM Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors.

Louis was born on August 24, 1942 in Galveston County, Texas to Dennis Merrill (D.M.) and Annie Mae (Hamilton) Grabbe. He graduated from Silverton High School in 1960. His future plans at that time was to be a farmer and rancher. He was looking for a wife with a tractor and requested to send a picture of the tractor. He married the love of his life Alice Faye (Holt) in 1963 in Tucumcari, NM. They made their lifelong home in Silverton. In his early years after graduation, he worked for Edwin Davis Well Drilling Service, but his passion for farming and ranching was immense. He farmed and ranched part-time from 1969-1976 when he acquired his own Hereford “whiteface” cattle and began farming and ranching full time. His family, as it grew, worked right beside him all the way to his grandchildren. Louis loved nature, seeing things grow, all animals, and his family. Family gatherings were one of his greatest pleasures, charcoaling his favorite steak and sharing with those he loved the most. Louis enjoyed watching football and especially listening to country music.

He is preceded in death by his parents; D.M. and Annie Grabbe, his brother; John Earl “Joe” Grabbe, his infant brother; D.M. Grabbe, his sister; Blanche McMillan.

He is survived by his wife; Alice Faye Grabbe of Silverton, his daughter; Carrie Ann McJimsey and husband Doug of Silverton, his sons; Kevin Brent Grabbe and wife Cindy of Canyon and Mitchell Sloan Grabbe and wife Debra of Silverton, his sisters; Janice Burch and Barbara Allison both of Lubbock, his grandchildren; Matthew Grabbe and wife Cortney, Skyler Anderson and wife Chelsey, Jayson Grabbe and wife Kendra, Haley Bribiesca, CoDee Grabbe, Brittney Grabbe, MaKlay Grabbe, Mesa McJimsey, McKena McJimsey Stambaugh and husband Tristen and Barbara Smith and husband Colt ,7 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
