Tulia, Texas—Lynda Sue Lofton (nee Wells), a substitute teacher for Tulia ISD as well as a 25-year retired Special Education teacher at Swinburn Elementary School, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday June 19, 2021.
Lynda is survived by her two children, Jerrica Burke (nee Lofton), Jonathan Lofton, and her three grandchildren, Jayden, Landon, Addison Lofton. Lynda is preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Sue Wells, and her brother, Larry Wells.
Lynda was born in Hereford, TX on August 17, 1950. She graduated from East Central University with a degree in Special Education. She eventually returned to her hometown to work for Tulia ISD and to raise her two children.
Lynda was a devoted mother and friend as well as educator. She never knew a stranger, and everyone was family to her. She had a huge heart and touched many lives. My brother and I were and are very proud to be her children.
There will be no funeral services, only a family ceremony. In lieu of flowers the family request all donations be made to The Special Olympics which she assisted with yearly, or the American Diabetes Association.
