Lynn Anne Goddard (Plainview)

Lynn Anne Green Goddard, 73, of Plainview, passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2023, in Plainview. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, June 8, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainview with Father George Poonely officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.

There will be a Rosary at 6:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 7, at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel. The family will greet friends following the Rosary at 7:00 P.M.

Lynn was born on February 22, 1950, in Big Spring, Texas to Leslie and Helen Duley Green, and graduated from Big Spring High School in the top ten of her class in 1967.  She received a degree in journalism with a minor in government from Texas Tech University in 1970 where she served as copy editor, editorial assistant and summer editor on its student newspaper The University Daily and served on two President’s Committees.  

She married Plainview native and her best friend, Gaylan Goddard in 1970, moved to Plainview and worked as administrative assistant and office manager for a commercial real estate developer, Plains Development, Inc.  After her daughters were born, she did free-lance public relations and was a substitute teacher.

She remained in Plainview except for a five-year period when she lived in Lawrence, Kansas and Yuma, Arizona. In Kansas, she continued her public relations business, was an officer of the Lawrence Welcome Club, member of Lawrence's Panhellenic and was active in Kansas City's Aggie Moms and Phi Mu Alumnae Chapter.  In Arizona, she started her career as a realtor and was a member of the Yuma Association of Realtors.  She continued as a substitute teacher in both Kansas and Arizona.  

When she and her husband returned to Plainview in 2003, she became a real estate broker with Street Real Estate and a member of the Plainview, Texas State, and National Associations of Realtors.  She served as a board member, secretary-treasurer and in 2009 as president of the Plainview Association of Realtors for which she received its distinguished Realtor of the Year Award in 2008 and its Pinnacle Award in 2016.

While in Plainview, Lynn has served on numerous committees and organizations.  She was a former member of Plainview Junior Service League, Bulldog Booster Club, Aggie Moms, several Plainview Schools’ Advisory Boards, and the PTA.   She also served on both the City of Plainview and the Plainview Independent School District's Re-Districting Committees, the city's Parks Committee and the PISD Gifted & Talented Committee. She was a former president of Plainview Panhellenic.  She wrote histories of several churches and organizations and spearheaded the Llano Estacado Museum’s unveiling of its mammoth exhibit.  She served on the publicity committee for the YMCA’s Building Fund and co-chaired Hallmark’s Kaleidoscope Traveling Exhibit.   She was a charter board member of both the Plainview Symphony and its Guild and for many years served on the Symphony’s Board of Directors.  She also served as secretary and president of the Plainview Cultural Arts Council.   She was a docent for the Llano Estacado Museum and an art exhibit at Wayland.  When Plainview began its Arts in March program, Lynn served as its first publicity chair.

She was an active member of St. Alice Catholic Church where she taught Vacation Bible School, sponsored the Catholic Youth Organization, and served several terms on its Parish Council.  She was a member of Chapter BL of P.E.O.  where she served three terms and was starting her 4th term as president, Phi Mu sorority in which she served as an advisor at its Texas Tech and Baldwin University (KS) chapters, Texas Tech Alumni Association's Plainview chapter and Omega Delphin Study Club and volunteered for Meals on Wheels and the American Heart Association. She has been a member of Kappa Tau Alpha (journalism honorary) and Women in Communications.

She is survived by her adoring husband, Gaylan, of Plainview; three daughters, Angela Roberts & husband Marcus of Coppell, TX, Corrie McPherson & husband Jeff of San Antonio, TX and Meagan Reynoso & husband Joe of Justin, TX; her sister Paula Green of Plano, TX and cousin Katherine Hood & husband Jim of Topeka, KS.  She was “Grand” to three grandsons Cole Roberts, Luke Roberts and Aiden Reynoso and a bonus granddaughter Ashley Reynoso.  She was preceded in death by her parents.
