Manuel C. Gonzales (Plainview)

Manuel C. Gonzales, Sr., 80, of Plainview passed away on Friday, December 10, 2021.  A Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, December 13, 2021 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father George Poonely officiating.  Burial will follow in the Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.

A Rosary will be held at 6:00 P.M. Sunday, December 12, 2021 in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel.

Manuel was born on July 17, 1941 in Sonora, Texas to Fileberto and Carmen Gonzales.  He grew up in Sonora and in Plainview.  He worked for Hi-Plains Pavers for 30 years before going to work for the City of Plainview.  He worked in the Sanitation Department for 20 years before retiring in 2011.  When Manuel was younger, he enjoyed boxing and was a Golden Glove Boxer.  He finished in third place in the Olympic Trials in boxing.  He was an avid Texas Longhorn Fan and watched them religiously no matter the sport.  He also enjoyed fishing and playing golf.

He married Gloria Palomo in Plainview in 1961.

Manuel was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers and four sisters.

Manuel is survived by his wife Gloria Gonzales of Plainview; three daughters, Pat Hill and husband Johnny of Plainview, Melissa Gonzales of Midland, Julie Gonzales of Plainview; three sons, Manuel Gonzales, Jr. of Bethany, OK, James Gonzales of Plainview, Marcus Gonzales and wife Shana of Plainview; one brother, Edward “Walo” Gonzales of Bridgeport; six grandchildren, Aaron Gonzales, Taylor Sanchez, Christopher Hill, Lauren Hill, Hayden Gonzales, Jayci Gonzales; five great grandchildren, Antonio Gonzales, Jordan Hill, Lilliana Gonzales, Reign Sanchez, and Blaze Sanchez.
