Margaret Ann Johnson a beloved Mother, Grandmother, and community member of Sweetwater TX, passed away at the age of 84. Funeral services will be held at Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Plainview on Friday January 2, 2025, at 1:30 P.M. with Jamie Johnson and Katelyn Garcia officiating. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens.
A visitation will be held on Thursday January 1, 2025 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Plainview. The community is invited to join the family in a celebration of her life.
Margaret was born on June 27, 1941 to Samuel Alva and Theola Marie Sims in Amarillo, Tx. She graduated from Amarillo High school in 1958. Margaret married the love of her life. John Roy Johnson on March 18,1961 and they were married for 39 years before his passing in 2001. She spent her life working for the Plainview Independent School District (Aramark) as a cafeteria worker where she met so many of her closest friends. However, her main passion was her family where she was invaluable to her many children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She was lovingly known as Mamo to all that adored her. She truly loved her Friday nights of eating out with the Johnsons as well as an occasional battle of chicken foot and Wahoo.
Margaret is preceded in death by her late husband John Roy, Her mother and father, and her brothers Sammie and Robert.
Margaret is survived by her son, Keevin Johnson of Lubbock, her daughter Jonna Bowman and husband Brad Bowman of Sweetwater Tx., her grandsons Kyle Johnson of San Angelo Tx., Chad Johnson and wife Amanda of Plainview Tx., Hagen Johnson and wife Shelby of Iowa Park, Tx., her granddaughters Melodee Kemp and husband Derik of Sweetwater, Tx and Brianna Lopez and husband Daniel of Eureka Springs, Arkansas., and great grandchildren, Marcus Johnson, Alex Johnson, Cooper Johnson, Everly Johnson, Blevins Johnson, Lilly Kemp, Nicholas Kemp, Nathan Kemp, Emma Watson, and Chloe Lopez. She has one sister-in-law, Priscilla Sims of Ft. Worth and her children Todd Sims of Ft. Worth and Tara Lopez of Leander, Tx. and her nephew Steve Sims of Amarillo Tx. She is also survived by her brother and sister in laws Jerry and Sharon Johnson and Tim and Sue Johnson all of Plainview. She was also very close with her extended family of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
