Margie Sue (Tims) Hughes, 89 passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, January 17, 2024 in the Kornerstone Chapel with Mokey McCrary officiating. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Margie was born on November 4, 1934 in Lakeview, Texas to Gilbert Edgar & Opal Zillah (Harlin) Tims. She married LaRue Hughes on May 19, 1951 in Amarillo, Texas. They lived in Kress, where Margie was a homemaker and later owned Margie’s Photography Studio. Her many talents included crochet, crafting and gardening. Estate sales proved to be a favorite pastime for Margie and her grandchildren. Margie most loved her family and spoiling her grandchildren. She was a woman of great pride and strength of character. She and LaRue enjoyed the farm life in Kress for many years before moving to Tulia, They were partners for 72 ½ years. She is worth far more than rubies (Proverbs 31:10) and her strength, love of family and gracious heart provides the bond that sustains her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Oecia Gist; two brothers, Weldon Tims and Donn Tims; brother/sister-in-law, Van Earl (Waurayne) Hughes and Doris (Buster) Durrough and sister-in-law, Layvon Hughes. Margie is survived by her husband, LaRue Hughes; her children, Kenny (Sharon) Hughes, David (Vickie) Hughes, Randy (Sandi) Hughes and Benjalyn (Bryan) Foster; eight grandchildren, Jason (Holly) Hughes, Carrie (Jeffre) Skipworth, Tracy Hughes, Amanda King, Kassie (Nicholas) Lane, Melody (Chace) Vinson, Marcus (Brittany) Foster and Sarah (Matthew) Vaquera; thirteen great grandchildren, Kenley Hughes, Colton King, Weston King, Kaiden Lane, Karsen Lane, Kanon Lane, Eli Lees, Jett Lees, Ellis Vinson, Everly Vinson, Jenny Vinson, Makayla Vaquera, Matthew Vaquera; two sisters-in-laws, Jerrie Tims and Charlotte Tims and one brother-in-law, Glynn Don Hughes and many special nieces and nephews she considered her own. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Kress Fire Department New Station Fund, c/o Kress National Bank, Box 660, Kress, TX 79052.
