Maria R Chavez (Plainview)

Maria Rodriguez Chavez, 88, passed away on December 14, 2023. Funeral services will be held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainview on Monday, December 18, 2023, at 10:00 A.M. with Father George Poonley officiating. Internemnt will follow at Plainview Memorial Park. A rosary will also be held on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at 6:00 pm at the church. The community is invited to join in celebrating her life. Maria was born on September 15, 1935, in Canatlan, DUR, Mexico, and her passing marks the end of a life dedicated to love, family, and service. Maria married Valente Chavez, Sr. on January 30, 1955 in Mexico. They immigrated to the United States in 1957 and became lifelong residents of Plainview, Texas. Maria was the epitome of a caring mother and grandmother, tirelessly devoting herself to her family. As a homemaker, she created a warm and nurturing environment for her loved ones, always putting their needs above her own. Her selflessness extended beyond her immediate family, as she also shared her love and care with other children as a nanny. In addition to her family, Maria found great solace in her faith. She was an active and devoted member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainview, where she found joy in participating in various church activities. Maria was so loved and will be missed by many friends and family. Maria is survived by her children, Valente Chavez and wife Cathy, Adam Chavez and wife Cindy, Wally Chavez and wife RoseAnn, 10 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. Maria is preceded in death by her husband, Valente Chavez, Sr., daughter, Olivia Chavez, son, Oscar Chavez, and seven siblings, Aurora Rodriguez, Josefa Rodriguez, Carmen Galindo, Toña Rodriguez, Jose Rodriguez, Diego Rodriguez, and Miguel Rodriguez.
