Mark Ray Bennett (Plainview)

Mark Ray Bennett, 64, of Plainview passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2023.  A visitation will be held on Thursday evening, August 10th at Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview from 6 to 8:00 P.M.  Memorial services will be held on Saturday morning, August 12th at 11:00 A.M. at St. Stephen Church in Amarillo.

Mark was born in Plainview on November 3rd, 1958 to Ed and Sue Bennett.  Mark lived in Hart and graduated from Hart High School in 1977. He met the love of his life, Vivian, in Home and Family Living class.  They married on December 6th, 1976 and were married almost 47 years. Mark and Vivian lived out on the farm until 2020, when they purchased a home in Plainview.    He farmed in Hart with his brothers up until his death.

Mark was a loving and supportive husband, father, and Poppo to Jaxton, Savannah, Shiloh, Norah, and Gillian.  He was quiet and reserved, but when he spoke, he said something either profound, interesting, or funny.  He was able to watch all three of his children graduate from college and graduate school and marry the loves of their lives.

He taught 4th grade, 5th grade and 6th grade Sunday School at First United Methodist Church of Hart and was school board president for Hart ISD.  Mark competed in Cowboy Action Shooting with the alias, Gringo Green.  He made many friends and memories with this group.

Mark loved the Lord and was a faithful, humble, and generous servant.  We will never know all the kind and thoughtful things he did for others.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Sue Bennett.  He is survived by his wife, Vivian, son Travis and wife Tracy, daughter Stacey and her husband Todd, and son John Mark and his wife Elaine, his grandchildren Jaxton, Savannah, Shiloh, Norah, and Gillian, his brother George and wife Charlene and his brother Harold Bob and wife Ruth.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you support Faith City Missions of Amarillo, which is one of the many charities and ministries he faithfully supported for many years.
