Mark Powell, 88, of Tulia passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 17, 2026 in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Rev. Matthew Veals officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.
Mark Powell was born on November 16, 1937 in Atoka, Oklahoma, to Mark and Melinda Powell. Mark moved to Tulia in the late 1900’s, where he lived with his wife Ida McCollough Powell. Mark dedicated his life to working at Taylor Evans and Big In Fertilizer for most of his adult life. He also hauled hay and farmed chickens and pigs.
Mark and Ida lived along happy forty-five years of marriage until God called Ida home. Mark later remarried Joyce Yarbrough and took the role of dad to her two sons, Kenneth and Arthur. He cherished his family deeply, particularly joyous moments of taking the grandkids and great grandchildren to help feed the pigs and chickens which they enjoyed.
His laughter and love resulted during his lunch and supper. The times where he loved sharing his plate with his grandchildren. He loved all his Peter Boys and had a lasting bond with each of them.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mark and Melinda Powell; his first wife, Ida Powell; his second wife, Joyce Yarbrough; his siblings; Henry, Dorothy, Ollie, Geraldine, Ernest and Elizabeth; his stepchildren, Melvin Parker, Dock Parker and Willie Hall.
He is survived by his Stepchildren, Ida “Cookie” Watts, Mattie Russell both of Tulia, TX. and Ophelia Brown and husband Curtis of Pampa, TX.; his siblings, Eunice Powell, Richard Powell, Cora Lee An “Loretta” Powell, and Clarence “Jay” Powell all of Oklahoma; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and numerous great, great grandchildren.
