On June 1, 2026, at 11:11 pm Marlin Edwards met his Lord and Saviour face to face. He slipped the chains of a brief illness and instantly received his permanent healing.
Services will be held Friday June 5,2026 at Living Faith Christian Church at 10:00 am with Valentine Martinez as officiant.
He entered into this world on October 15, 1930 to the care of his parents George Russell Edwards Sr. and Julia Elizabeth (Barton) Edwards in Henderson County ,Texas. He spent the next twenty years growing and assisting his family on their rural East Texas farm until he went with them to pick cotton on a West Texas cotton field where he met the love of his life, Carma Louise McBroom. They were soon married on December 22, 1951 in Clovis, New Mexico. They started their married life with him working on Cloyce Fancher’s farm. Two short months after, Marlin was inducted into the Army and went on to serve in Korea as a medic on Heartbreak Ridge. Upon his joyful return to the United States he settled down in Olton and farmed with his father-in-law just outside town. He assisted his fellow church members in building the new sanctuary and fellowship hall at the First Assembly of God Church in Olton. He also served as deacon and Sunday school teacher for over twenty years. After a serious farm accident he went to work at the Olton Co-op Gin for the remainder of his working years.
He was preceded in death by both parents, his wife Carma, son Lyndell Edwards of Webb City, Mo, 3 sisters-Sybil Shavor, Evangeline Kidd, Nelda Tompkins all from the Edom-Brownsboro communities of Texas, One brother Malcolm Edwards of Malikoff,Tx , three nephews and one niece.
Those left to celebrate his life are his daughter- Quilla Edwards of Olton , Daughter-in law Elaine Edwards of Webb City, Mo, ex son-in-law Lonnie Cook grandson Justin Edwards and wife Savannah, Thomas Cook and granddaughter Chasity Cook and great grandchildren Keegan and wife Erica, Logan , Karter, Navaeh and Evan, His brother George Russell Edwards Jr. of El Paso,Tx. Two sisters - Clovis Tompkins and Wynell Whorton of Edom Texas. Sister-In-law Margaret McBroom Young of Buffalo, Oklahoma-19 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to Wounded Warriors or Olton Ambulance service.
