With a heavy heart we announce the passing of our beloved mother Mary Guadalupe Calderon, 75, of Hale Center, Texas, who passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 in Lubbock, Texas. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, July 28, 2025 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Larry Ybarbo officiating. Interment will follow at the Hale Center Cemetery in Hale Center, Texas. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview, Texas.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 27, 2025 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel.
Mary was born on August 2, 1949 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Trinidad and Esperanza Calderon. Mary was a loving woman who filled her heart with the love of her family. She loved the Lord with all her heart and God's love radiated from her and reached everyone in her family. She generously spread the word to anyone in need, no matter their situation. Her free spirit shined through her love of fashion and makeup and her “Bling”. One of her hobbies was crafting. She made thoughtful pieces with personal importance for special occasions and brought them to family events to share with relatives. She had delicious recipes that were shared with everyone, you could taste the love in every meal. These recipes will be passed down through generations. She loved spending time with family and created beautiful memories. She made everyone feel special and cared for and, those memories will never be forgotten.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Trinidad Calderon (Father) and Esperanza Calderon (Mother). Brothers Jimmy Calderon, Johnny Calderon, and Leo Calderon. Sisters Cosuelo Calderon and Janie Arcega.
Mary is survived by her two sons, Joey Mirelez and wife Grace of Mansfield, Texas, Angel Aguirre of Hale Center, Texas; and daughter Anne Hooks and husband Hilberto of Hale Center, Texas; thirteen grandchildren, Ashley Hidalgo, Joey Mirelez Jr, Bianca Mirelez, Michael Mirelez, Jorge Martinez Jr., Jordan Martinez, Jairus Martinez, Cassandra Aguirre, Jason Garcia, Alejandra Aguirre, Angel A. Aguirre, Angel X. Aguirre, Azalea Aguirre, Azaria Aguirre; and eighteen great-grandchildern; brothers, Raymond Calderon and wife Janie Calderon, Frank Calderon and wife Gloria Calderon, Trinidad Jr. Calderon and wife Dora Calderon;and sister Socorro Rojas.
“He declares that he has “fought the good fight” finished the race, and kept the faith”. He then anticipates a “crown of righteousness” from the Lord, not just for himself, but for all who have loved his appearing.”
