Melva Culp, 62, of Petersburg, TX passed away surrounded by her family on March 4, 2024. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, March 8, 2024 at First Baptist Church in Petersburg, Texas with Sean Galloway officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Melva was born in Crosbyton, TX in 1961 to Luis Garcia and Rosa Hernandez Garcia. Jason and Melva were married on March 3, 2002 in Petersburg, TX, where they lived until her death. Melva worked at Lowe’s in Lubbock, TX for almost 20 years, and she worked at United for 20 years before starting at Lowe’s. She developed many close relationships with her co-workers through the years. Melva loved her family more than anything, and she enjoyed spending time with them. She loved working in her yard as much as she could. Melva’s main pride and joy were not just her children and grandchildren, but her fur babies, as well. (Lulu, Jack, George, Peanut, Ducttape, Shay, and Buddy) Melva is survived by her husband Jason and her two children Justin Johnson (Amber Johnson) and Toni Smith (Joshua Smith). She left behind nine grandchildren-Malorie, Preston, Morgan, Westin, Rylee, Kyler, Aaron, Raidyn, and Westlyn. Melva is preceded in death by her parents and one sibling (JR. Garcia). She left behind 10 siblings-Maria Crowley, Olivia Garcia, Ruby Villarreal, Ramiro Garcia, Willie Garcia, Joe Garcia, Juan Garcia, Mary Helen Garcia, Betty Garcia, Kathy Jasso, and many many nieces and nephews.
